Breaking Clinical News
SABM extends a special note of thanks to Marisa Marques, MD, for her time and guidance as the first Blood Management Executive Section Editor for Anesthesia & Analgesia (A&A). With a background in Hematology and Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking, Dr. Marques provided a unique, informed perspective on the appropriateness and utilization of blood products. Just over two years ago A&A launched this new section devoted to Blood Management and Dr. Marques has been instrumental in helping to educate clinicians. We are pleased to now welcome Susan Goobie, MD, as the new Executive Section Editor. Dr. Goobie, with an expertise in pediatric anesthesia, continues the goal of informing clinicians on the importance of avoiding unnecessary transfusion of blood products including the diagnosis and treatment of anemia among the blood management options. Dr. Goobie is also now serving as a SABM At-Large Director. The application of evidence-based practice leads to improved patient outcomes and SABM continually provides valuable insights from physicians of such high caliber.
