What is SABM?
The Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management (SABM) is a non-profit medical organization and the global leader in patient blood management, an innovative approach to improve patient outcomes by optimizing blood health. SABM provides education to the public and thousands of medical professionals each year on issues of anemia, nutritional deficiencies, bleeding, clotting, blood transfusions, and blood alternatives. The goal of PBM is improved patient outcomes by preserving and optimizing the blood health of each patient.
Why is Blood Health Important?
Your blood plays a critical role in carrying oxygen and nutrients, fighting infection, strengthening immunity, and supporting every organ in your body. Conditions like anemia (low red blood cell count) can cause fatigue, weakness, and serious complications — especially before or after surgery, during pregnancy, or in chronic illness. Abnormalities in coagulation can lead to blood clots or excessive bleeding. Blood health matters for everyone. By raising awareness and promoting smart, patient-centered strategies, SABM aims to help people live healthier, stronger lives.
Let’s walk or run together for a healthier future. See you there!
